The University of Northampton Avenue Campus
The University of Northampton Avenue Campus is planning a considerable transformation putting it at the centre of the town’s cultural offer.
Emmet was the associate in charge of this RIBA competition entry at Metropolitan Workshop. The entry made the final shortlist in the 2 stage competition. The entry proposed 2 new buildings within the refurbishment of the existing Maidwell building and extended out into the rest of the campus instigating a development framework for the next 20 years. The existing courtyard of the Maidwell building is underused and the proposal was to make it the heart of the campus, the forum where students, staff and visitors gathered. A new library and dance studio building overlooked a new space which is covered with a glass canopy.
