John studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, graduating in 2001 with a First Class Honours Degree and the Environmental Design Prize for the integration of engineering and environmental principles. John’s post graduate education continued at the Bartlett for diploma where he gained commendations for both design and dissertation submissions. John gained his final professional qualifications from the RIBA Northwest with the Part 3 Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice.
Before joining AUStudio in 2010 John had worked on a wide range of award winning schemes at M3architects, Metropolitan Workshop and Theis and Khan Architects. John’s professional experience has included projects that range in scale, budget and complexity from private residential schemes to whole city master plans. John was the Project Architect for the Bateman’s Row House in east London, which was awarded the RIBA London Building of the Year 2010 and has recently been shortlisted for this year’s Stirling Prize. Other projects have included Lumen URC in Kings Cross, which gained an RIBA Award in 2009, a PCT Health Centre in Bethnal Green, church and community centres in Amersham, Enfield, Bethnal Green and Bayswater, Innovata Opera House, and Master Plans for Dublin, Doha and Oslo.
John’s work has featured in publications such as Architects Journal, Building Design, Architectural Lighting Magazine, FX Magazine, Dezeen, Bartlett Designs: Speculating with Architecture, Devices: CJ Lim.
John is also involved in Architectural photography and has had his work published in journals and periodicals in the UK, Europe and Asia.
