LJBC Broadcasting Facility
Tripoli, Libya

AU Studio were approached by ECOU to put forward proposals for extending the broadcasting and production facilities currently used by the national broadcasting company in Tripoli. Tender documentation for this 40,000m2 broadcasting centre extension has recently been submitted and will significantly enhance the capacity of the existing facility, which is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment programme.

The centre contains 8 TV studios for 4 channels and 4 radio stations over 7 floors with each channel laid out over 2 floors. The building is organised by 2 full height atria; the first defines the entrance area and provides a central circulation space between the existing building and the extension. The second atrium clearly defines each tv channel and circulation within the extension and brings natural daylight to the offices along the perimeter of the plan. At the bottom of the atrium a communal canteen, full back up facilities and extensive training facilities can be accessed.

The proposed broadcasting facility will be the first of a number of buildings within the Media City Masterplan, which will act as a catalyst in revitalising this area and demonstrates the client’s commitment in delivering this new media and culture quarter.
